What is Vaginoplasty?
A Vaginoplasty, also known as Vaginal Rejuvenation or Vaginal tightening surgery is a surgical procedure that ultimately tightens the vagina. This type of surgeries usually reduce the vaginal diameter and tighten the internal and external vaginal canal to increase friction during intercourse. This is done by removing excess loose vaginal skin and tightening the surrounding soft tissues and muscles.
Why would I want Vaginoplasty surgery?
During pregnancy and with delivery of a baby the vagina and surrounding tissues usually become stretched. After delivery the vagina may return to a more “normal” size, but it rarely goes back to its’ pre pregnancy diameter. Generally speaking, the more vaginal deliveries, the worse the laxity may get.
It is not uncommon to experience decreased sensation and sexual satisfaction during intercourse and feeling laxity which happens due to a lack of friction. Sometimes your sexual partner may notice a change although they may not say anything.
Kegel exercises and pelvic floor physical therapy are often recommended but not reliably successful in restoring vaginal tightness.
Vaginoplasty surgery will tighten the vagina and will help to achieve vaginal tightness similar to pre pregnancy and pre delivery times. Some women may feel loose although they have never had children. Vaginoplasty surgery can help these women as well.
What are the risks associated with Vaginoplasty surgery?
The most frequently reported risks of surgery may include bleeding, infection, and scarring. Complications are possible but with our experience and surgical techniques they are uncommon.
